Mission Statement

California Homeschool Network is an inclusive, statewide homeschooling organization serving families across a diverse spectrum of homeschooling styles and philosophies.

California Homeschool Network exists to protect the fundamental right of the family to educate its children in the manner it deems appropriate without regulation or interference by federal, state or local agencies.

California Homeschool Network monitors and responds to legislation which may pose a threat to homeschooling, and to this end, maintains a dialog with local, state, and national homeschooling organizations.

California Homeschool Network serves to inform and empower homeschooling families, educate the public, and foster community among home educators in the state of California.

CHN's Declaration of Homeschool Independence

The Board of Trustees of the California Homeschool Network holds freedom to be essential to the fulfillment of homeschooling's promise. We therefore dedicate our resources and services toward the protection and promotion of homeschooling independent of government support and intervention. This policy represents a deliberated response to the encroachments on family independence and the security of homeschooling rights posed by the growth of government funded and controlled home-based school programs. We shall continue to provide full information to the public and to respect the informed choices of individual families.
