Here is a sneak peek to the adventures awaiting your family at EXPO this year.

We sincerely hope you have a wonderful summer but plan on finalizing Summer 2018
at EXPO.  I can’t think of a better way than to be in a healthy social and learning
environment with other like minded families.    A time to interact with “real” families
that share similar experiences.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

We will be highlighting the speakers in the next several weeks to give you a
glimpse at the great opportunities awaiting you at EXPO.

Kristin Shepherd
Kristin is traveling the path from pro-schooler to no-schooler. She holds one
Master’s degree in Education and Literacy from the US, and one in the Study
of Play from the UK. She is the director of a non-profit organization, Recess
Revolution, that focuses on enriching play environments for all ages.

Sessions:
Can Play Change The World
An enriched play environment helps us to develop the skills needed in life,
and makes life fun. Discover how to create an enriched play environment in
your life and how it can change the world.

Mess For Success
Can making a mess be the key to success? Learn how chaos in your child’s leaning
environment may really be the enrichment they need.

Pro-School to No School :  A public teachers journey into unschooling.
In this session, I will discuss what I know about standards, common core, curriculum,
testing, state requirements, gifted education and special education from a public
school teacher’s perspective….and why I am choosing to unschool my son.

Brendan Kelso

BRENDAN P. KELSO is the author of Shakespeare for Kids books as well as a
coach to parents and teachers around the world who want to engage their kids
with Shakespeare! He came to writing modified Shakespeare scripts when he
was taking time off from work to be at home with his son. “It just grew from there”.
Brendan has reached over 100,000 kids with his titles. He makes his home on the
central coast of California and loves to spend time with his wife, son, Edgar the pig,
Pat the cat, 2 goats, 2 ducks, 5 chickens (#’s 9-13), and 3 dogs.

SESSIONS

Engage your Kids With Shakespeare!

This workshop is specifically about engaging your kids with Shakespeare using the
Shakespeare for Kids series from Playing With Plays. Shakespeare for Kids books
are melodramatic, fun, and engaging interpretations of Shakespeare’s actual texts.
It will cover what the books are about and how they work. As well as to give you
ideas on using the books and other tools to engage your kids with Shakespeare. No
purchase is necessary to use some of the techniques from this seminar.

The following areas will be covered:
How the books are designed
How to set up your own class
Different ways homeschool groups have used these books from:
Backyard Shakespeare – with a few students to
Shake it up with Shakespeare – with 70+ students
Ways to engage older kids who are resistant to Shakespeare
Shakespeare Insult Generator & Insult-a-thon!

Eartha Robinson

Eartha is a veteran in the Industry, raised in Harlem & an Alumni of the
‘famed’ Performing Arts High School in NYC, receiving scholarships & offers
from Dance Icons such as Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, Donald McKayle,
Dianne McIntyre & Bernice Johnson. She began her career with a Broadway
debut at age 16 in the wiz, with Stephanie Mills. Eartha now has Dancer &/or
Actress credits in over 100 TV Shows, Commercials, Specials, etc. – from the
original cast of FAME to LaLaLAND. She also has been Creative Director &
Choreographer for Artists such as Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago,
Beyonce & Jill Scott as well as working with Actors such as Whoopi Goldberg,
Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington & Angela Basset, to name a few.

Add to this Eartha’s experience working alongside some of the most celebrated &
innovative Choreographers & Directors of our time, including George Faison,
Michael Peters, Debbie Allen, Spike Lee, Wes Craven & Gary Marshall and one
must agree that such a wealth of knowledge & a passion to pass on relevant skills
to todays’ Youth makes Eartha a true force to be reckoned with.

SESSION

Heartfelt Education Through The Arts

THE H.E.ART will present a Performance based Interactive Lecture Demonstration
on Singing, Dancing and Acting with the focus and connection on the Arts for Life,
Academia and the Arts, from behind the scenes to in front of a camera, from Math &
Sciences to Poetry & Short Stories, all of life is a stage and we all play apart.
